Well, as we know, 2020 has been a challenging year for all of us and I have to hold up my hand and admit that I did not make such good use of the Covid lockdown as I had intended! I set out very much along the train of thought that being isolated would be the perfect opportunity to sit down and get my next book written very quickly. Somehow, that just didn’t seem to happen. Like many people, I’m guessing, we did clearing and sorting and lots of zoom conversations and of course walking … … not to mention the recent arrival of a new grandchild … and consequently I seemed to find it quite hard to simply sit down and write!
However, the good news is that I now seem to be back on track. I’ve started my next Harry Briscombe novel – although I am now setting this aside for a new project that I hope won’t take too long to complete. My plan is to write a shorter Christmas story about Harry and his girlfriend, Claire who take off to Africa on Safari over Christmas, where, of course, they run into dark doings! It’s a bit of a tall order having it ready to go by Christmas/New Year but I’m on the case, so watch this space!
After that it will be back to work on my new book, which has the extremely uninspiring title of Harry Novel 5 at the moment. I’m hoping that as I write, one aspect of the story will leap out at me and give me some inspiration as to what to call it, after which as usual, I will go to my trustworthy team of beta readers to get their votes on the final title.
Right! No more prevarication. Harry and the wonderful plains of Africa call. So farewell for the time being, and wherever you are, keep safe and grab every chance you can to lose your sorrows in a good book.
